Buh, Buh, Buh

Last Friday, I took Dylan to Chuck E Cheese for the first time. Saturday, we went out to look at a house, then had a few errands to run. I should have known something was up when I gave Dylan a bottle in the car, and he just looked at it, disinterested. Since Sunday, he has looked like this...

Damn you, Chuck E!! His nose is running like a waterfall, and what is the one thing that Dylan really, really hates? When anyone tries to wipe his face. So, for the past 3 days, he and I go rounds, about every five minutes, to see who will win. Will I wipe his nose, or will Dylan drip snot on every surface of our home? By the end of yesterday, I was like, "What's a little snot on the furniture?" After his second nap, in the afternoon, Dylan had the meltdown of all meltdowns. It was scary. I honestly thought I was gonna have to pack up and take the kid to the emergency room. Either that or the nearest church, (for the exorcism). I called Jim at work, and when he heard the noise, he asked "What is wrong with him?" I replied, "I DON'T KNOW, BUT WHEN ARE YOU COMING HOME?"

Of course, by the time Jim got home, he was calm, and smiled a super huge smile at his daddy, as if all was right in the world, and mommy just likes to beat her head against the wall and go "Buh, Buh, Buh" for no reason. It is a double edged sword, isn't it? We want our kids to be around other children, but when they are, this is often the result.

The fact that my little ragamuffin is in dire need of a haircut really adds to the effect of these pictures, don't you think?

Oh! I am so sorry! I hope everyone is feeling better soon! Those are the hardest days to get through.

Yeah this is how my little guy looked not too long ago. I'm in the process of trying to keep him from looking this way because I've got some bug right now. What a cute little boy you have! His hair do reminds me of Jonathan's about a month or so ago....before daddy took him to the barber where he screamed his head off.

Oh, I hope everyone is better soon! We use to literally hibernate in January and February when Zach was a toddler because of all the viruses.

I have to admit, the thought that he might get sick was in the back of my head when you said you had taken Dylan to Chuck's place. It's a petri dish of grossness there. Alexis swims in a petri dish at daycare every day, so she usually can make it through those kind of public outtings, but the unaccustomed almost always take a hit. Poor guy.

I hope he's feeling better pronto. Oh, and if you're going to bang your head against a wall, could you come use one of my walls instead? I want to demolish it and you could get me started. Thanks!

Oh Jen, you entered child hell! My Mom use to make us take a shot of whiskey 'to sweat it out' so why she was taking several shots after me was a mystery - until I had children. Just saying...

Can someone explain to me why we teach our children that rodents are fun and exciting to play with???

Hope y'all are feeling better quickly!

He's adorable, even when sick. That is a real drag! We have a few indoor playgrounds here and our playgroup has actually stopped going, because so many kids have gotten sick repeatedly. Hope the rest of you stay well. It is SO amazing when they learn to wipe and blow their own nose.

I'm so sorry poor little Dylan is feeling so awful - poor baby (and poor mom!). We are sick in our house too - Alexis brought it home from her class at school. I hope Dylan starts to feeling better soon - watch his ears, it might be his ears are hurting him (the meltdown)- with all the runny nose and all (what do I know). Take care Jen - see you soon. I'll have you know, you are THE Jen in my book. Always have been, always will be.

I hope little man is looking less miserable today, and that you haven't caught his germs.
