"Dylan, you're supposed to write NICE things on a birthday card! Telling Daddy that he's old isn't really nice!", I explained. "I didn't say he was old!", he protested. O... kay..., I sighed.
Jim does many things that drive me completely crazy, err... I mean one or two things at the most (cough), but he is a wonderful husband and he looks as good now as he did when I married him. But, the thing that makes him the most attractive to me is how he is with Dylan.
It's hard for a five year old to explain, but I know what he really wanted to say in his card was,
"Thanks Dad, for spending your "spare" time making things that you know will make ME happy".
"Thank you for taking the time to do projects with me".
"Thank you for being man enough to be so giving with your affection".
"Thank you for choosing to take ME when you get an extra sports ticket".
"Thank you for going along with my crazy ideas, and for being willing to be silly".
"Thank you for letting me "help", even when it would be easier not to".
"But, most of all, thank you for being there when I needed you, since the very beginning".
We love you, Jim! Thanks for all you do for us. Happy 47th Birthday! (It's really not a big number).

Happy Birthday! I just love it all.
I am verklempt at the thought he's only a year and a half younger than me and he has a kindergartner.
It should also be pointed out that Dylan is a genius. Seriously, that's quite a card.
I should note that Dylan couldn't spell all the words on that card. He was yelling at me from the kitchen, "Mom! How do you spell "Half"? Mom! How do you spell "Really"?
That's my age too, and it's only a number. I love the pictures, especially the card.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM! I know I don't know you, but I do know that you are an amazing DAD. I can just tell ;D
That'a a great birthday card!
